Ben G. Hackett
Associate Director Consulting - ICF International
Mr. Hackett runs his own consulting business, Hackett Associates LLC, working with container shipping lines, terminal operators, port authorities, trade associations, national governments, and international institutions. He advises on strategy issues, long term planning and forecasting. He is currently under retainer with ICF International as Associate Director Consulting, responsible for developing activities in the maritime and port sectors.
Managing Director - CHNL
Dr. Bjorn Gunnarsson is the Managing Director (since April 2011) of the Centre for High North Logistics (CHNL) in Kirkenes, Norway. He received his B.Sc. in geology from the University of Iceland, Reykjavik, and Ph.D. in geochemistry from Johns Hopkins University, Baltimore, United States; followed by Post-Doctoral positions at both California Institute of Technology (Caltech) in Los Angeles and Johns Hopkins University.

Chris Hayman has a degree in history from Oxford University and began his career in the media, working for CBC Radio Canada in Ottawa. He has been involved in the development of Seatrade’s events, and management training businesses, covering commercial shipping, offshore marine and cruise tourism worldwide. He is chairman Seatrade. under its new ownership
Managing Director - Clarksons Dubai & Egypt
Essam Bella promoted as a Chartering Manager from 1997 to 2000. He has then set up Khedivial UK and been Managing Director. In 2005 Clarksons London hired him to set up Clarksons Dubai as Managing Director till date. He is also the Chairman of Clarksons Egypt. For his 26 years’ experience in dry cargo he has spanned all sizes of dry cargo chartering and broking.

Hazem Ghonima started his career with the Mineral Economics Research Division (MERD) of Energy, Mines & Resources – presently Natural Resources Canada, he involved with the issue of potential containerized traffic moving between Atlantic Canada & Asia (particularly China) via the Suez Canal since 2007. He was a keynote speaker at several Canadian and Egyptian conferences dealing with this topic. The development of the New Suez should justify his efforts.

Since 2011 she has been CEO of Denmark based ITOLEAD Consulting, but today she is also partner of the (MariconHouse), she is the only one offering RAM, an optimized version of the awarded “Result Assurance Management, she is also a member of the CMI board member of WISTA Denmark and WISTA Nordic contact and member of other relevant maritime associations.
Acting CEO - DP World Sokhna
Mr. John Fewer is currently the Acting CEO at Sokhna Port at Ain Sokhna for DP World Sokhna. Mr. Fewer is a graduate of the United States Merchant Marine Academy. He has over 50 years’ experience in the shipping and terminal operating industry. He has been responsible for port development and operating projects for DPW at both “greenfield” and “brownfield” facilities.
First Economic Affairs Officer - UNCTAD
Dr. Mutasim ELAGRAA holds a PhD in international economics from the University of Toronto, Canada where he specialized in trade shocks and real exchange rates, he contributes widely to UNCTAD’s technical cooperation activities, and intergovernmental consensus-building as well as macroeconomic research and publications, including its annual Report on Assistance to the Palestinian People. Dr. ELAGRAA also edited a volume on pro-poor macroeconomic and trade policies and sub-regional integration among Arab countries.

Egyptian National, working as the, Deputy General Manager, Investors’ Services Department in the General Authority of the Suez Canal Special Economic Zone since February 2010 started her professional career working in a USAID funded project related to the privatization program in Egypt, handling several agreements between the Government of Egypt and the European Union as well as the World Bank related to the Skills Development Program and the TVET Program.

Peter Hinchliffe OBE
Secretary General - International Chamber of Shipping
Peter made a very early decision to go to sea and enjoyed a first career in the British Royal Navy,He joined ICS in 2001 and for several years led ICS representation on maritime safety, security and environmental issues at the IMO and in other fora. He was appointed Secretary General of ICS in July 2010 and today focuses on enabling the ICS team to optimize its effectiveness on behalf of international shipping through lobbying, representation and intervention.

Rodolfo Sabonge is President of Universidad del Caribe, and independent consultant in the area of infrastructure planning and development. Rodolfo Sabonge was Executive Vice President of Planning and Business Development for the Panama Canal Authority. During his tenure of 28 years with the Panama Cana he was also responsible for the demand and marketing feasibility studies of the Panama Canal Expansion project, the economic impact studies of the expansion, he was General Manager of the Panama Railroad.

Head of International Coordination Division of National Institute - Land and Infrastructure Management
Dr. Ryuichi SHIBSAKI is a head of International Coordination Division of National Institute for Land and Infrastructure Management (NILIM), Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism (MLIT), Japan. He was Chief Researcher of Center for International Port Policy, the Overseas Coastal Area Development Institute (OCDI) of Japan until this March and engaged in the technical assistance project on “Enhancement of Competitive Strategy for Suez Canal” sponsored by Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA), as a specialist of vessel modelling and demand forecasting. His major research fields are port planning, logistics analysis and freight flow modeling. He got Doctor of Engineering from and worked at the University of Tokyo. Also, he was a visiting researcher of Modern Logistics Research Center, Shenzhen Graduate School, Tsinghua University during the year of 2006, and is currently a visiting associate professor of Graduate School of Management, Kyoto University as well as a visiting researcher of Waseda University He spent more than decade to develop a worldwide intermodal freight flow model, including maritime shipping as well as land (road and rail) shipping network all over the world, which mainly focuses in the Asian and Central American region. The results of policy simulations based on the model he developed were utilized not only for the Japanese government, but also for the ASEAN logistics expert group to evaluate prioritized logistics projects as well as the APEC maritime expert group to forecast future trade and cargo flow in the region. His studies were also awarded twice from the Eastern Asia Society of Transport Studies (EASTS) with the above related topics and once from International Association of Maritime Economists (IAME).

Tim Power, Head of Maritime Advisors at Drewry, has worked for 33 years in shipping, ports and supply chain management. With P&O Containers he had roles in container logistics and trade lane management, specialising in e-business, supply chain engineering and container logistics. He joined Drewry as Head of Maritime Advisors and has worked on numerous assignments including government policy, port development strategy, shipping company transformation, and transaction advice and due diligence.
Deputy Director - CY Tung Int. Center for Maritime Studies - UK
Dr Tsz Leung Yip is Associate Professor and the Programme Leader of BBA in International Shipping and Transport Logistics at the Department of Logistics and Maritime Studies in The Hong Kong Polytechnic University. Also he is the Deputy Director of C. Y. Tung International Centre for Maritime Studies. He gained his BEng and PhD from The University of Hong Kong and MBA from the University of Manchester. As a chartered engineer (CEng), he has been involved in many port development, maritime logistics and marine traffic projects both in Hong Kong and overseas. He is an Associate Editor of Maritime Business Review and on the editorial board of the Asian Journal of Shipping and Logistics and International Journal of Aviation Management.
Dr. Thorsten Ploss
A chemist by education Dr. Thorsten Ploss has over 18 years of global consulting experience on topics ranging from strategy development to performance improvement. For over 10 years he has also hands-on experience in the Middle East. Since January 2015 he is leading Bahri's strategy development and implementation as Director Strategy, based in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. From August 2012 to December 2014 he led EY's Middle Eastern activities in the petroleum industry across all service lines, from advisory over tax to audit, additionally being responsible for EY's global business with Saudi Aramco as Senior Partner and EY's MENA Oil & Gas Leader based in Bahrain. Before joining EY Thorsten set up BLISS Strategy Consulting focusing on emerging markets in the wider Middle East advising his clients across industries mainly in the area of performance improvement and growth strategies. In his previous role as a Partner at Roland Berger Strategy Consultants he was advising his global clients from Roland Berger's London office. Besides managing a global key account (one of the top global 4 IOCs) he was also looking after Roland Berger's business across all industries in two Middle Eastern countries being responsible for Roland Berger's successful entry into those markets across several industries (e.g. petrochemicals, engineered products, financial services, automotive, oil industry) working on topics like restructuring, reorganization, market entry and general strategies. He has worked in Europe, Middle East, Asia, South Amarica and the United States.
